Tristen Lee
99.95 ATAR - NSW
Hi! I’m Tristen, a fourth-year Medicine student at the University of Sydney, currently completing my Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Medicine as a Dalyell Scholar and proud recipient of the USYD Chancellor Award, having graduated in 2021 with an equivalent ATAR of 99.95.
During my time in high school, I always wanted to do medicine, but was never particularly confident with my grades - and never really thought I could do as well as I did. Whilst I was confident in certain subjects, I was much weaker in others, and I never thought that I would be able to do well across the board - at some point I had accepted that I would simply be worse in certain subjects.
Going into Year 11 however, I realised that high school exams were not just exams that spanned a couple of months in Year 12 - but rather a long journey that takes commitment across all subjects and doing as best as I could in every subject was crucial for me to be able to do the career I have always wanted to do - medicine. A long term strategy for all subjects was important - focusing on areas where I struggled more, but still going over areas I thought I was already good at. With more than 1500 hours of tutoring, and my own personal experience, I am confident in helping you achieve similar results, rethinking how your high school experience should be - not just repetitive, dull learning, but instead a journey of achieving personal growth along with academic success.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my focus on personalisation. I know that every student has their own strengths, challenges, and learning style. That’s why I tailor lessons to meet your specific needs, whether you're preparing for exams, interviews, or just looking to boost your understanding of a subject - the best teachers are not ones who have a preset yearly plan, but rather one that is dynamic and changes with each student's unique needs. This means that content and teaching will focus on your own input and effort, but if you put in the work - you will see results. My aim overall is to ensure you not only grasp the content but also feel confident in applying it.
I offer tutoring in Chemistry, Biology and English for all year levels, as well as Maths and Physics for younger year levels. I also specialise in UCAT, BMAT preparation, and coaching for medicine and dentistry interviews, having gone through the process myself. I have taught students from a wide variety of selective, private and public schools, including but not limited to Sydney Grammar, Meriden, North Sydney Boys, North Sydney Girls, Cranbrook, MLC, and Hornsby Girls' - producing numerous Band 6 marks in HSC syllabuses and Grade 7 marks in IB syllabuses.
Lessons are primarily conducted online via Zoom, and I’m available for quick responses and support outside of lesson hours. I offer both individual and group sessions, ensuring that you get the attention and guidance that fits you best. Please be aware that lesson timing availability may be limited at this time of the year.
